Meditation to Help the Helpless

As we all continue to struggle with news about the aggression and suffering in Ukraine my daily meditation group did a special session for Ukraine this week. If you are feeling helpless you may want to try this meditation.

I find this style of meditation, called Tonglen, is very helpful when I feel a situation is too large or difficult to handle. Tonglen is often called Taking and Sending. It is intended to expand compassion. It also helps to reverse our natural tendency to shut down in the face of suffering. It basically encourages us to feel the pain in our own lives and then imagine how that pain might be similar to the pain of others, in this case, Ukrainians.

You can find the meditation here. If you have questions please comment below.
